The Youth Ambassador Program is a scholarship competition open to all high school seniors who reside in the Tri-Cities area.  Selections will be based on the student’s personal maturity, volunteerism, and youth leadership potential in support of “Coast Guard City, USA.”

Our current title holder is a 2008 graduate of Grand Haven Senior High School, Lauren LaMore.  Our runners up are Elle Luckstead and Jarrett Ardell.  Many of you may recognize them, as they have been quite active in our community.  Collectively, they’ve been involved in the Feast of the Strawberry Moon, Salmon Festival, Day of the Young Child, Kid’s Day at Mulligan’s Hollow, annual Ice Cream Social, Jingle Bell Parade, Memorial Day Parade, World Peace Day in Central Park, International Day of Silence, and various school activities and mentoring programs.  They have also devoted much of their time and talent to very valuable causes: International Aid, Helen DeVos Children’s Fund, Holland Center for Women in Transition, Spread the Music Foundation, Camp Bluebird, Mel Trotter Ministries, and their respective parishes.

Although these students interests may vary; from theatre, to writing, to international relations – one thing is certain.  They are leaders, doers, and achievers.  They have taken the time to reach beyond their immediate view to ensure results that will shape our community for years to come.

If you know a local high school senior that you think is remarkable, or if you are that student that strives to ‘do your part’, please follow the link below and consider becoming Coast Guard City, USA’s Youth Ambassador 2009!
